Autumn is my favorite time of year! Beautiful falling leaves, comfy sweaters, pumpkin everything- it's the best! However, as a plus size woman, finding fall footwear that's comfortable, functional and fashionable has always been a challenge. None of the cute fall boots at the usual footwear shops fit my 22" calves and wide feet! Specialty places like Torrid and Lane Bryant sell cute footwear for plus size people, but they've always 1.) been uncomfortable due to cheap soles 2.) fallen apart on me right away, and 3.) offered almost no grip or traction, which is silly. What's the point of wearing a cute fall boot if you can't walk into a TJMaxx without slipping and hurting yourself on their smooth floors? (I speak from experience- it was so embarrassing! Thanks for nothing, cute Torrid boots!)
This year, I've found a few gems that I encourage you to jump on. They're comfortable, inexpensive, and quality!
I wear these babies around the house and when I walk the dogs on chilly autumn mornings! They're warm without being hot and stuffy, they're super cute, and they're big enough that my thick calves have plenty of room. Dr. Scholl's makes them, so you know they're comfy AF. I'm a size 10 shoe and I bought these in XL. I have about an inch of room at the top, so I'm guessing they'll fit up to a women's size 11.
For years, I looked for oxfords that worked with my chubby ankles- the tongues of every pair I'd tried on cut into me and made wearing them painful. Then, I found the holy grail: these Genna Oxfords by Dr. Marten. They don't have tongues, eliminating the problem! Anything cut-out is so in style right now, and these puppies are no exception. They run true-to-size and are also available in a metallic pewter color!
I love these boots! They're made by Bearpaw. The knit detail at the top is adorable, they've got seriously tough soles, they're hearty and lined with soft, cozy fleece. These cozy boots are stylish enough to go with my cutest fall outfits while being rugged enough to take me on long autumn hikes. As with all Bearpaw boots, order up a size for the best fit. I'm usually a size 10 and wearing their 11s. They're roomy and comfy!
Finding stylish, functional fall footwear as a fat babe can be a complete bummer! These gems are total steals- try 'em out! I'm going to be living in them all season!
